Advances in digital learning and development
Learning technology, digital content, and facilitating live online — the last of which you have to actually do.
Level 5 People Management · 9 assessment criteria
Learning outcome 1
Understand technological development in learning and development.
- AC1.1evaluate
Evaluate how the development of technology and digital collaboration has impacted the design and delivery of learning and development over time.
What that asks for: Weigh it up and reach a judgement. Both sides, then a position — an answer with no verdict does not meet this.
- AC1.2assess
Assess the risks and challenges technology-based learning and development poses, and how these are being addressed for: organisations; learners.
What that asks for: Judge the significance or extent of something. Close to evaluate, but the emphasis is on how much it matters.
- AC1.3assess
Assess the impact of emerging learning technologies on the role of L&D professional.
What that asks for: Judge the significance or extent of something. Close to evaluate, but the emphasis is on how much it matters.
Learning outcome 2
Understand how to create engaging digital learning content to meet specific purposes.
- AC2.1summarise
Summarise different types of digital learning content including the applications of each.
What that asks for: The main points, briefly, in your own words. Leaving things out is the skill being tested.
- AC2.2discuss
Discuss how the choice of digital learning content impacts the effectiveness of learning and levels of engagement.
What that asks for: Set out more than one view and show how they relate. A one-sided answer is the usual miss.
- AC2.3explain
Explain key principles of curating engaging learning content to address a specific need.
What that asks for: Make it clear how or why something works. Description is enough here — you are not being asked to judge it.
Learning outcome 3
Be able to apply a range of online facilitation functions and techniques to deliver an effective live online learning activity.
- AC3.1discuss
Discuss how facilitation of a live online learning activity can differ from facilitation of a face-to-face learning activity and the implications of this for: facilitators; learners.
What that asks for: Set out more than one view and show how they relate. A one-sided answer is the usual miss.
- AC3.2assess
Assess the main skills required to facilitate online learning activities.
What that asks for: Judge the significance or extent of something. Close to evaluate, but the emphasis is on how much it matters.
- AC3.3demonstrate
Demonstrate online facilitation skills within a live online learning activity.
What that asks for: Show it happening through evidence of your own practice. This one cannot be answered in the abstract.
