Core behaviours for people professionals
Ethics, inclusion and your own development — the unit that asks you to evidence how you behave, not what you know.
Level 3 People Practice · 5 assessment criteria
Learning outcome 1
Understand insightful approaches to supporting and maintaining ethics and professional practice.
- AC1.1explain
Explain ethical principles and professional values including how these can inform approaches to work.
What that asks for: Make it clear how or why something works. Description is enough here — you are not being asked to judge it.
- AC1.2specify
Specify ways in which you conform consistently with relevant regulation and law within the context of ethics and professional practice.
What that asks for: Name the particular things, not the general category. “I follow GDPR” is the category; which parts, and how, is the criterion.
Learning outcome 2
Be able to promote respect and inclusive working underpinned by professional courage and a passion for learning.
- AC2.1summarise
Summarise ways of demonstrating respectful and inclusive working in relation to: contributing your views and opinions; clarifying problems or issues; working effectively as part of a team.
What that asks for: The main points, briefly, in your own words. Leaving things out is the skill being tested.
- AC2.2recommend
Recommend ways in which you can show inquisitiveness about issues and developments in the people profession and the wider world of work.
What that asks for: Say what should be done, and why that rather than the alternatives.
- AC2.3demonstrate
Demonstrate proactive approaches to developing, recording and reflecting on your professional knowledge, skills and experience.
What that asks for: Show it happening through evidence of your own practice. This one cannot be answered in the abstract.
